TBFTC-8-EditHow are Groups Structured?

Your child will receive therapeutic intervention in a group setting with the same aged children with similar difficulties. An intake screening is completed for each child so that we may consider developmental concerns as well as chronological age. Most age groups meet for 90-minute sessions weekly. Parents receive written feedback regarding progress after each session.

What Techniques Are Used?

To help your child develop and improve their pro-social behavior, we use coaching, video tapes, role playing, and problem-solving discussions. We also utilize positive reinforcement through our point system (reward-based). Your child will also be given homework assignments to encourage generalization to home, school, and other play settings.

What Are the Program Goals?

Our goal is to help your child improve his/her behavior in social settings and to enhance his/her social skills. The groups have been developed to improve motivation, social awareness, self-esteem, and problem-solving ability. We often work closely with an provide information to teachers, physicians, and other professionals to achieve these goals.

What Feedback Do Parents Receive?

You will receive a “report card” describing your child’s performance each week and an outline describing the activities covered during that session. More extensive feedback is generally provided through family therapy (typically 3-5 sessions during the course of the 15-week cycle).
